10 Nov The Biggest Art Festival in Dubai “Dubai Design Week 2018” Witnesses Modern Design Innovation
Currently in its fourth edition, the Dubai Design Week 2018 started from November 12 until November 17. Managed & owned by “The Art Dubai Group”, the six day grand event kicked off in style with a mission to declare Dubai as the epicentre of Middle East design. The popular trade fair welcomed global reputed brands including Marset, Cassina and Artemide.
The new downtown editions’ stunning sections grabbed the maximum limelight though. The latest ceramic work from Bouchra Boudoua fetched a lot of attention. Featuring light blue patterns, beautiful vases of different shape & sizes reflected a contemporary style without overshadowing the original Morocco roots of the designer.
Aljoud Lootah‘s ‘mandoos’ collection payed tribute to traditional wooden chests but with a new styling. The exquisite looking boxes incorporated modern design elements with their surface beautifully weaved with camel leather and adorned with vivid metallic studs for a more elegant look. The handcrafted boxes had distinctly separated compartments for different purposes.
Another major design attraction was the new ‘continuum’ collection presented by Line Concept. Produced in Dubai, the furniture comprised tables and chairs combining rich, handcrafted materials for an enhanced appeal.
Designed by eminent designer architect Rula Yaghmour, “Kutleh” brings into reality a new medium to transform the stone industry waste into something more creative. Ranging from marvellous chairs to vases, her design objects comprised use of natural materials & colours.
Finally, crystal side tables from Rita Kettaneh impressed immensely with their unmatched geometry, transparency, colour and overall appeal. It can be said that “Dubai Design Week 2018” did showcase some of the most cutting-edge designs to the world.
